Weekly Careers Update #14/2025

This week’s update highlights leadership moves and promotions across clubs in Europe and beyond. From business strategy and partnerships to executive transitions, these developments underline the ongoing change and activity across the football industry.

Bart Cobbaert leaves Royal Belgian FA
Bart Cobbaert has left the Royal Belgian Football Association after nearly six years with the organisation. He first joined in 2019 as Commercial Manager and was most recently serving as Head of Business Development. During his time at the RBFA, he contributed to several key initiatives including the launch of a new app, the introduction of advertising within the federation’s ecosystem, and the commercialisation of the Proximus Basecamp. His departure marks the end of a period in which he played a central role in strengthening the RBFA’s commercial partnerships and revenue streams.

Marco Castellaneta promoted at Juventus FC
Marco Castellaneta has been promoted to Marketing Director at Juventus FC. He has been with the club since 2022, most recently serving as Media Director and previously as Head of Digital Media. Prior to joining Juventus, Castellaneta worked as Founder and COO of Sports Production Hub and held senior content and media roles at DAZN and AC Milan.

Tain Drinkwater joins Newcastle Jets
Tain Drinkwater has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Newcastle Jets, effective May 1. She joins the club following her role as Executive General Manager – Performance and Pathways at the National Rugby League. Drinkwater previously held executive positions at Netball NSW and the Brisbane Broncos, including serving as NRLW CEO. She brings over twenty years of experience in senior management and executive roles.

Christian Schultz leaves Brøndby IF
Christian Schultz will leave Brøndby IF at the end of the current season to take on the role of Head of Communications at the Danish Football Association (DBU). He has been with Brøndby since 2015, leading the club’s communications during a period of change and growth. Prior to joining the club, Schultz held senior communications roles at & Schultz, COWI, Nordea Markets, and Mattel.

Emma Schmidt promoted at FC St. Pauli
Emma Schmidt has taken on the role of Partnership Manager at FC St. Pauli. She has been with the club since 2023, starting as a working student in marketing before moving into a Junior Marketing Manager role. Prior to joining FC St. Pauli, she gained experience through internships and part-time positions, including at Sky Sport News and Esprit.

Emilio García Duarte joins Real Betis
Emilio García Duarte has been appointed Business Director at Real Betis. He joins the club after 15 years with the NBA, where he served as Director of Sponsorship for Europe and later as Head of Marketing for Latin America. During his time at the NBA, he led growth strategies across the region, contributing to record revenues and an expanding fan base. His appointment comes as Real Betis advances key corporate initiatives, including the remodeling of Estadio Benito Villamarín.
