Weekly Careers Update #5/2024

Welcome back to our Weekly Careers Update in which we highlight new exciting personnel changes in the football business sector.

Luc Hooybergs Appointed New CEO of KRC Genk
As of 1 September, Luc Hooybergs will be the new CEO of KRC Genk. Luc has had an impressive career at Nike, working as General Manager in Laakdal, at the European headquarters in Hilversum and as Vice President in Portland, USA. He will now lead the board of KRC Genk. As football becomes more professional and competitive, KRC Genk aims to achieve sustainable success while maximising its local social impact. To support this, the club will be reorganised into three business units: Football, Business and Community.
Erik Gerits will become Head of Community I Dimitri de Condé will remain Head of Football I Sem Franssen will become Head of Business.

Oliver Boden joins Chelsea FC as Partnership Sales Director
After over 2 years at Formula 1 as Head of Licensing and Gaming and then as Head of New Partnerships, Oliver has taken on the challenge of working at a football club, joining Chelsea FC as Partnership Sales Director.

Alessandro Giudice appointed to the board of directors of Genoa CFC
Alessandro, a seasoned professional with over 15 years’ experience in investment banking, has been appointed to the Genoa Board, bringing with him a wealth of financial expertise and leadership experience from his previous roles.

Eadaoin Keane Named FAI’s Marketing and Communications Director
With 20 years of experience in marketing, advertising and communications, Eadaoin is well placed to raise the profile and reputation of Irish football and increase participation at all levels of the game as Marketing and Communications Director.

Andreas Schmocker will take over the position of Managing Director of FC Zürich from 1 August 2024
Andreas Schmocker, previously General Manager of PUMA (Switzerland) AG and most recently Head of Marketing/Operations at Grasshopper Club Zürich from 2020 to 2024, has been appointed as the new Managing Director.
