This week’s careers update highlights significant transitions in the football business industry, with a promotion at HamKam Fotball Elite, a departure from Real Betis, and a key appointment at BSC Young Boys. These moves underline the dynamic nature of leadership roles in European football!

Mehran Amundsen-Ansari promoted at HamKam Fotball Elite
Mehran Amundsen-Ansari has been promoted to General Manager at HamKam Fotball Elite. He joined the club as Commercial Manager and has also been part of the Sports Committee. Previously, he held roles such as Sales and Marketing Director and Head of Sales at Vålerenga Fotball Elite, as well as Marketing Director at HamKam and Sports Director at Løten Fotball, showcasing his extensive experience in Norwegian football management.

Juan Useros to Depart Real Betis
Juan Useros will leave his role as Business Director of Real Betis at the end of 2024 for personal and family reasons. Having joined the club in 2017, he has been instrumental in driving business growth, placing Real Betis among LaLiga’s top four in revenue generation, and enhancing its international visibility. His achievements include launching the Forever Green sustainability project and memorable marketing campaigns. Following his departure, the club will restructure its Business area into four verticals: B2B, B2C, Retail, and Ticketing.

Ursula Friedmann Appointed Chief Non-Sports at BSC Young Boys
The board of BSC Young Boys has appointed Ursula Friedmann as Chief Non-Sports, effective April 1, 2025. Friedmann, a sports economist from Freiburg, has spent the past decade at Hertha BSC, most recently as Senior Project Manager for Stadium Development. Her previous roles include Head of Strategic Projects and Infrastructure and Head of Match Operations and Organization. She also worked on the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Berlin and the 2015 Women’s Champions League Final. At Young Boys, she will oversee areas such as finance, HR, hospitality, sales, and operations.
